SYFFAList, February 2016

Yeah....I know it's a week late, but uhhhh. Um. The leap year fucked me all up.

These songs are all much better than that excuse.

PURPLES - Big Opportunity: This groove is so tight. Then it sounds like the band broke into the studio late at night while drunk to add some 'LA DA DA's' to the final mix. And this is why I love this track.

Quiet Life - Lost in the Light: I was instantly hooked to this track when I first heard it because Quiet Life sounded like Dr. Dog playing on a sunny Friday morning. And then I realized that the song features Scott McMicken of Dr. Dog and it was indeed a sunny Friday morning. Look for their new album coming out in April.

Yuck - Hold Me Closer: This song is driving to high school early in the morning after over sleeping with a still wet head and shampoo foam in your right ear from the rushed shower. And then you realize you forgot your Jansport backpack at home with your T1-85 graphing calculator and trigonometry homework in it. Side note, do kids these days still use graphing calculators or can you pull that shit up on your iphone?

School of Seven Bells - Ablaze: I actually forgot this track on my January SYFFAList. I love the hugeness of this song....it's up there in the Chvrches and Naked & Famous weight class.

Spaceman 3 - I Love You: Yes, I know this song is from the 90's, but Fuck it's good.

Dopehead - Guttah Guttah: I heard this track on the recently released Moodymann mix tape. That fucking clean piano melody backing the piercing tone of the rapping kills me.

Dark Blue - Delco Runts: They throw you a Titus Andronicus-ish curve ball in the last minute of this track and it's so choice.

Living Hour - Seagull: This just might be my favorite song this year.....so far.
