World Premiere: Father Mountain - On Leaving and Being Left Behind

Joel Frieders | January 4, 2015
When I hear a band for the first time, and (fuck goose pimples) I get a goose boner, I have to set aside time with the band without any outside influence to see if that boner was over what I was actually hearing or just a hope-boner. I got a hope-boner over a band a few years ago and before I had taken a moment with them I contacted them and called them amazing, only to finally listen to them and find all of the things I loved about them completely assumption based.  I needed to start vetting my boners bros.  A quiet room or a solo road trip or a pair of awesome fucking headphones while my kids try to kill each other, I needed one of those options to explore what initially gave me such a massive case of the holy shits. I needed this bandboner to actually be actual bros.  So I got the...

World Premiere: Sammy Warm Hands - Endless Excuses

Brandon Backhaus | November 25, 2014
Sammy Warm Hands is one of my favorite rappers you've never heard of. He's another emcee who can rap his dick off and gets not an ounce of the recognition he deserves. I picture his water cooler raps, you know when the coworkers press you to bust because they heard from your other coworker you accidentally saw at the bar that you rap, making said coworkers' ties fly back in a breeze birthed from the sheer power of his true word. This new track, Endless Excuses is just one in a long line of hilariously weird rap classics that Sammy Warm Hands is rubbing out! I swear there'll be a place in the old hard drive for all things Sammy Warm Hands from '14 til infinity, bitches! The third verse by K.I. Design (of The...

World Premiere: Human Behavior - Chapter 1

Brandon Backhaus | November 22, 2014
Human Behavior is an anomalous folk group with a little dark cloud following them around. I shared their video, Chapter 1 with a few people. And I got two reactions. 1. Hate 2. Love I very much fall into the latter category. This quirky song and even quirkier video touched me somewhere moist and potential hairy. POW! Right in the feels! Apparently, Zach Zdziebko, Adult Swim producer and man with the most impossible to spell last name in the history of all last names, agrees. Since, you know, he directed the video and all. So now I'm sharing it with you! Are you a #1 or a #2? Human Behavior’s first studio album is called, Bethphage. It's available for preorder over at Folktale Records.

World Premiere: Mike Arson - Rooftops feat Masai

Joel Frieders | November 20, 2014
Mike Arson came to my attention from the homie Masai. And bro, I'm a Masai fan boy. I have Masai jorts, a Masai tankini and a shitload of Masai beverage coasters around the crib bro. I even reference my genitals as if Masai himself had circumcised me. Seeing as I have a hidden camera in the ATG mansion out in New York (pronounced New YOK bro), I sort of swindled my way into getting the world premiere of the new Mike Arson video titled Rooftops, which features my favorite human with a brain and a mic, Masai. If you've never spent time with the boys in ATG, I think this is a fucking delcious place to start. You've got the subtle...

World Premiere: Cas One - October

Joel Frieders | October 9, 2014
Cas One is the bro of all bros. What does that mean to the everyman? IT MEANS HE WEARS KHAKIS TO WORK, HATES SMOKE DETECTORS, ONCE STOLE A ROLL OF TOILET PAPER FROM A FANCY RESTAURANT JUST TO BRING BACK TO HIS MOTEL ON TOUR, and he loves his wife. "October" is the fucking JAM of all JAMS (and other assorted canned fruits) from the syffal-lauded album The Monster and the Wishing Well, so when I forced Cas One to give SYFFAL the premiere, what else could the bro do besides give the premiere to SYFFAL? WELL, HE COULD'VE GONE TO COLLEGE AND GOT A REAL JOB, SURE. BUT SCREW THAT BROS. Peep the interview Cas did with us while this video was being formatted: INTERVIEW HERE.

World Premiere: Wings and Wounds (Graves 33 & Sarx) - Death of the Pep Rally ft. Ceschi

Brandon Backhaus | September 30, 2014
Hey, fuckers, lovers, friends and enemies, you ever hear of a rapper goes by the name of Sarx? You neither? Well, let me fucking introduce you to this fucking beautiful sasquatch of a rapper. Sarx is from the Northwest and, along with Graves33, is part of collab crew, WINGS AND WOUNDS. He is as good of a person as he is bad of a rapper. And you know I mean not bad meaning bad, but bad meaning SENSH-YOU-ALL! Graves33 so graciously allowed us to premiere the, Death of the Pep Rally video featuring none other than Syffal fave, Ceschi. Death of the Pep Rally is the first released track off Graves and Sarx's new project, WINGS AND WOUNDS, and color me touched. Not only is the video shot in that ferngully-esque muted tone that...

World Premiere: THEE OOPS in Asia! - Mini-Doc

Joel Frieders | September 4, 2014
Before Tim Baker left SYFFAL to pursue his interpretive dance degree from the University of Phoenix, he gave me two things to remember: 1. Never leave Del alone with an apple-corer and access to wifi. and more importantly, 2. THEE OOPS is the greatest musical force to ever exist in the history of existing, and anything they release will be embraced as the second coming of jesse christs and it shall be exulted and considered holy, and/or the opposite of vegan. I knew about the first one, as I read the article that accused Del of what the SYFFAL staff now only refers to as "the incident", but the second one was almost obvious, yet it had this white crust all over it. So it def needed the ol' lick and wipe before I could understand it fully. Tim sent me THIS. And then he...

World Premiere: We Were Astronauts - Music City

Joel Frieders | September 2, 2014
I know nothing about WeWereAstronauts. Bro, I only know what I know bro, and what I know bro has nothing to do with WeWereAstronauts bro. Welp, I should mention that lately I've been waking up in the middle of the night with a need to look out the front winder and when I do get up to look out I've seen the same big black bird sitting on my car staring at the winder I'm staring out of. It's all very Crow bro. But I DO know that the first time I heard the new EXCLUSIVE SINGLE from WeWereAstronauts titled Music City was the LAST TIME I knew nothing about WeWereAstronauts bro. Music City starts out like an Alabama Shakes tap takeover, but once you burp a few times it starts to sound like the Kings of Leon....

World Premiere: Besatree - The Dissolve (mini interview)

Brandon Backhaus | July 31, 2014
LA rapper, snapback salesman, and scraggly beard aficionado, Besatree is world premiering his new video with us. And it's weird. I first heard Besatree aka Jon May at some Inland Empire show where he was going all party boy on the mic with fellow rapper K-Serious as the creatively-named duo Besatree and K-Serious. Two skater-type white dudes absolutely slaying the verbal gymnastics routine like prepubescent, ribbon-twirling Chinese girls. I was impressed. It was the kind of music that plays super well at a bar or party, but it was never something I wanted to straight up bump. You guys should know by now my brooding ass prefers the dark side of life. I like my musics sad and angry and heartbroken and sad. Besatree and K-Serious have both broadened their horizons and matured musically. I...

World Premiere: Minka - Jackson Pollack

Joel Frieders | July 8, 2014
If there's three things I love, it's many many swanky sass paintcakes splattered all up on the walls of a stuffy museum, and/or a deliciously subservient set of manface hairs in a tuxedo bro.  Thankfully all of these things, and more, are smooshed all over the SYFFAL PREMIERE OF MINKA'S "JACKSON POLLACK". Whatever you've read about this band is incorrect. They are NOT signed to Eminem's rap label. They are NOT sponsored by Kia OR Hyundai (yet). They are NOT all 100% vegan. And most importantly, they are NOT not like how they seem in this video, all the time. Holy fucking urban swank bro. No matter what they type out for me to read, I ignore it. These Minka fools just scream fucking fashion show, but thankfully they're screaming it in Russian, so...
