Blisses B

Curtain Call

Joel Frieders | May 13, 2019

Blisses B hold a special place in my SYFFAL heart. One of the first bands, maybe ten years ago or so, where I developed an honest friendship with the guys based solely on my love of their tunes. Turns out, it's totally possible to establish meaningful friendships with complete strangers when you have something like the love of music in common.

Fast forward about ten years, Blisses B are back with another album, AND IT IS PERFECTLY TITLED: Tell Your Friends You Love Them And Why drops on June 21st, 2019! If there was ever an album titled named for me, it's this one. HELL YEA. I spend more time than ever before reminding the people around me that I love and appreciate them, and this album title here just massaged me in the feelies.

The first single, "Curtain Call" just dropped for you here and it's the perfect marriage of why I fell in love with these guys all those years ago. It's comfortable and approachable and hummable and hooks you right off the bat with that eerie synth where you're not sure if it's a guitar or a keyboard, but either way, Blisses B are the west coast version of one of my favorite midwestern bands, Me Like Bees

If I get my way, one day I will combine Blisses B and Me Like Bees on one tour and it will BEES the BEST tour ever, because of all of the friendship and bee references.

That dreamy shimmering guitar solo about 2/3 of the way in leads right into the opening synth-ish riffer and I'm back to having to choose between playing comfortably metered air drums, plinky air keys, or tight mouthed air guitar solos.

Blisses B make me feel comfortable, like how I used to be before 2019 made me all super uncomfortable.

LOVE YOU GUYS. HUG IN PERSON AT SOME POINT, YEA?
