Ménage- Promises

| September 15, 2014
I will admit to being fucking geeked over the fucking simple ass motherfucking chorus on this track. GO HEAD, SAY YEAH, SEE IF IT MAKES ME TESTICLES CRAWL UP INSIDE ME AND HUG ME DEARLY BRO. I have no idea who Ménage are, or how to get that thing to show up over the e without copy and pasting, but holy fuck I don't want this song to end. Shit feels like someone made a compilation video of all of my unsuccessful attempts at sports and put this song on to make it feel like I hads a few successes bro. Full on arms in the air, running while smiling, wiping tears and then licking the snot from your upper lip type shit bro. This is IT. Promises might be the song I ask to play after they pull my plug. Fucking gorgeous. If I find this band's album, I promise to listen to it while wearing...

World Premiere: THEE OOPS in Asia!- Mini-Doc

Joel Frieders | September 4, 2014
Before Tim Baker left SYFFAL to pursue his interpretive dance degree from the University of Phoenix, he gave me two things to remember: 1. Never leave Del alone with an apple-corer and access to wifi. and more importantly, 2. THEE OOPS is the greatest musical force to ever exist in the history of existing, and anything they release will be embraced as the second coming of jesse christs and it shall be exulted and considered holy, and/or the opposite of vegan. I knew about the first one, as I read the article that accused Del of what the SYFFAL staff now only refers to as "the incident", but the second one was almost obvious, yet it had this white crust all over it. So it def needed the ol' lick and wipe before I could understand it fully. Tim sent me THIS. And then he didn't say anything...

One Song: Wildcat- Marfa

Tom Doz | August 21, 2014
Wildcat! Wildcat! just released their debut album No Moon At All and it's pretty fucking good. I'm probably going to review it soon, but because I prcastinatez, I needed to get up this track for Marfa ASAP. fucking Marfa! I've mentioned many times before that I'm a whore for songs that take me on journeys. Songs that end nothing like they start.....like the band is mashing a couple of tracks into one. Think 'A Day In The Life' of 'Paranoid Android'. fucking Marfa! This song is the last track on the album and the finale is grandiously epic. What starts out like a MGMT track (before MGMT took too much acid) takes a drastic turn at 2.15 when the dance beat dicipates into nothing and we are left with a repeating and quietly crooning line 'You don't have to be...

Rob Sonic- Jesus Christ Super Tramp

Joel Frieders | August 15, 2014
My passion for Rob Sonic is constantly fresh. Not to be a dick, but I'm constantly reminded how fucking dope this dude is BY THIS DUDE, because I keep forgetting how fucking dope this dude is. I don't wanna seem like a bandwagoner, but holy balls dude makes me wanna be dude. Jesus Christ Super Tramp is the disinterested, yet still intimidatingly fresh, Rob Sonic I hope to hear on the new new, Alice in Thunderdome. Not only do I appreciate his up close gams (peep gams), his fucking rappering is fucking awesome. I could listen to this dude rap the menu from McDonald's for like, days brah. DAYS BRAH. ROB SONIC! CAN WE BE BEST FRIENDS YES?

World Premiere: Besatree- The Dissolve (mini interview)

Brandon Backhaus | July 31, 2014
LA rapper, snapback salesman, and scraggly beard aficionado, Besatree is world premiering his new video with us. And it's weird. I first heard Besatree aka Jon May at some Inland Empire show where he was going all party boy on the mic with fellow rapper K-Serious as the creatively-named duo Besatree and K-Serious. Two skater-type white dudes absolutely slaying the verbal gymnastics routine like prepubescent, ribbon-twirling Chinese girls. I was impressed. It was the kind of music that plays super well at a bar or party, but it was never something I wanted to straight up bump. You guys should know by now my brooding ass prefers the dark side of life. I like my musics sad and angry and heartbroken and sad. Besatree and K-Serious have both broadened their horizons and matured musically. I...

World Premiere: Minka- Jackson Pollack

Joel Frieders | July 8, 2014
If there's three things I love, it's many many swanky sass paintcakes splattered all up on the walls of a stuffy museum, and/or a deliciously subservient set of manface hairs in a tuxedo bro.  Thankfully all of these things, and more, are smooshed all over the SYFFAL PREMIERE OF MINKA'S "JACKSON POLLACK". Whatever you've read about this band is incorrect. They are NOT signed to Eminem's rap label. They are NOT sponsored by Kia OR Hyundai (yet). They are NOT all 100% vegan. And most importantly, they are NOT not like how they seem in this video, all the time. Holy fucking urban swank bro. No matter what they type out for me to read, I ignore it. These Minka fools just scream fucking fashion show, but thankfully they're screaming it in Russian, so I can only assume they are...

World Premiere: Blueprint- Perspective

Joel Frieders | June 24, 2014
Blueprint is not only a SYFFAL favorite, he's a gal'darn personal hero of mine. Crafting increasingly intelligent lyrics over beats that never cease to break new levels of badass in their originality and texture, Blueprint is one of the few rappers in the world that just get better and fucking better and better and fucking better. AND WE GET TO WORLD PREMIERE HIS NEW VIDEO? SOMEONE IN HIP HOP HEAVEN MUST HAVE A THING FOR THE BRO, BRO! Respect the Architect is the latest snapshot album in Blueprint's territorial march on ear hole domination, and there is no other track as poignant and explicitly honest than this track that we are as giddy as college freshman with a crisp 20 dollar bill in a headshop over. Perspective takes the listener out of the apathetic, disinterested, 'I'm...

DOOD COMPUTER's SWEET 16 - EP. 15- MoodSwingKing

Tim Baker | November 11, 2013
This is probably the most excited I have been about a Sweet 16 since they launched. It is not that this episode is better than the others, because quite frankly these fuckers are all like my children, I love them all equally. What makes this one unique is that MoodSwingKing is the child I never knew I had. Everything about this episode is new to me. Until Mitch sent me the video link, I was completely unaware of MoodSwingKing's delicious skill sent and flare for fire arms and headgear. shit bangs so hard. It is also the first video to be shot outside the mosit confines of the PigFood Records emcampment, so it smells 73% better. I recently sat down with MoodSwingKing to talk about his experience with this burly asshole Mitch. SYFFAL: Bro, is this video clip a statement about Obama...

DOOD COMPUTER's SWEET 16 - EP. 13- Bender

Tim Baker | October 14, 2013
If you aren't up on the rap battle scene/King of the Dot scene then you are probably one of those assholes with real responsibility, kids, and/or a recently kicked drug habit. For the rest of you, by now I am sure you are wildly familiar with Bender. This hunk of sensual jerky meat fucking rules that world. A burly, barrel chested, bear of a muthafucker, this prick has all sorts of spittle and rapper meat stuck in his gnarly beard and yellow sweat stains on the pits of all his white t-shirts from the work he put in. He is also tight with that hobo/drifter looking asshole named Mitch aka Doodcomputer. He is featured on the upcoming Giant Gorilla Dog Thing Album (I heard the song its tasty as Fuck) and I guess frequents Albany on the rare occassion that he has to feel his native wilderness...

World Premiere: Giant Gorilla Dog Thing & Iron Mic- Iron Giants

Tim Baker | August 21, 2013
Bro the horns in Iron Giants sound like all my Cybill Sheppard sex dreams. I am all sorts of rubbery for Rob Viktum's sounds brobrobro. Iron Mic, Giant Gorilla Dog Thing (GGDT) and the whole Pig Food Record's roster have been making some exciting and sensual hip hops, really stepping it up over the past 12-18 months. These fuckers put words together in ways that make me equal parts aroused and jealous. Two quick asides: DoodComputer is quickly becoming one of my favorite rappers Gorilla Tao! This video effectively does two things, shows the talent of these assholes and proves the age old adage that white people have no ups. Those fuckers are getting like 3 inches off the ground when they jump. Calisthenics bro! One last note. I was at the NYC show, yet no love in the video......
