YAWL have taken the assumption that all hip hop videos contain slow motion shots of rappers smoking tweeds, drinking 'lean, and pointing at the fucking camera and dropped it into a suplex from the top turnbuckle bro.  Instead, everything in the YAWL universe is a beautiful version of mundane or a mundane version of beautiful, and either way it's delivered, it's fucking perfect.  "Ships" feels pre-apocalyptic and post-invasion, but stunningly fucking captivating, while at the same time being eerily terrifying, yet completely enjoyable to immerse oneself inside of. Here's to every fucking video from YAWL being a perfect accompaniment to their insanely original version of hip hop.

I have a thing for Tonedeff. Not like a thing thing, but like a thing thing. I mean. Dude fascinates me.  I met him when we both competed to perform at Lollapalooza in 2006. He won 1st place, my band won 2nd. He got main stage. We got a smaller stage. Roxiny and Tunde Adebimpe from the soundtrack god of Rubble Kings, Little Shalimar. Rubble Kings is a documentary about late-70s. post-60s crumbling New York and the birth pains of hip hop. Little Shalimar did the musics.  This video is from like six months ago but I don’t give a shit because it feels like summer! It is time to breathe in its fire into my loins. A few years ago, when we were first starting out with SYFFAL, Well Hung Heart was the only band that didn't seem like they were completely unaware of their image while at the same time actually cranking out music we dug. Yes, their guitar player is fucking sexy as hell. Yes, his wife is fucking sexy as hell too. But if they sucked, don't you think no one would be talking about their sexiness because of the fact that they sucked all of the butts? Well Hung Heart fucking murder. The 360 degree technology they filmed "Touch The Sky" with is just fucking FUN, and if there's one thing I want my rock bands to play with, it's my short supply of fun bros.  WELL HUNG HEART, I FUCKING LOVE YOU. 

This MARKS track feels like one of those songs that plays while you're getting ready to go out and all you wanna do is the robot in the mirror. While I'm an admitted electro fanboy, this shit is Sunday morning coffee on the patio fucking awesome.  Here's hoping the rest of her album is as fucking pop chill balls as this shit is.
