Foals

Sunday

Joel Frieders | June 3, 2019

I don't even remember if I've ever shared my love for Foals. Their album What Went Down from a few years ago was so heavily on repeat I actually considered removing any and all references to any other band from my cellular telemaphone.

The fact that their music feels powerful and thoughtful and delicate and intense and gorgeous, it makes me feel like I'm in the exact place I'm supposed to be in life. Whether that's true changes every few hours, but while I'm listening to them I feel this eerie comfort. Mainly because feeling comfortable is so rare these days, but Foals always sounded so familiar while also so galdarn original.

"Sunday" was the track on the new album that made me say "I've heard this before" even though I hadn't. That fucking breakdown at like 3:19 and the wicky wicky wicky thwack strum of the guitar over the house beats, I FUCKING LOSE IT!

IS THIS HEAVEN? No; it's Iowa.

I LOVE HOW THIS BAND MAKES MY FEELS FEEL YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
