Stop Sleeping

STOP SLEEPING: The Juggs, Logan Vath, Flora Cash, Le Prince Miiaou, Jargun, SURVIVAL

Most of us at SYFFAL are dad’s and as such we are all hella stoked for this weekend. It is father’s day. It is the one day of the year that is all about us. It is our time to rage the Fuck out, eat all the red meat we want, control the stereos and force our families to suffer the repeated blows of whatever sound is moving our man units with a soothing bpm. I for one plan to force feed my family a steady diet of BBQ, Quilmes beer, and Norwegian Death Metal.

Those of us that aren’t parents are either too fucking awesome (Dick) , too fucking foreign (Aaron), too adorable (Johnny), too into mixtapes (Dave) and too into being seen (Del).

The rest of us are fu...

Bros!

We are so fucking back. After a week plus stuck in coding hell it feels fantastic to talk music again. Plus we were able to take a breath, warsh off the sweat, hug the wife and kids, and catch up on all the music that is flooding our inbox.

This week we come at you hella hard with a gang of awesome music that is hovering under the radar (with the exception of Del who dropped the one album I see every time I go on the web, and Brando who dropped something that has been out forever - remember when Joel reviewed it two years ago?, fucking Syffal LA, we need to revoke their medical marijuana cards).

STOP SLEEPING: Psychic Tongues, Turtle Giants, Nappychan, TORRES, Surachai, Parks, Squares and Alleys, Kisses

I haven't had much sleep over the passed few weeks. Not because I've been partying hard bros, but because I've just been busy as balls. The good thing about being busy is that you don't even realize time is flying by, but it sucks when you're actually enjoying all the shit you're busy with.

So because I'm getting the distinct feeling that this shit isn't going to slow down any time soon, I'm preparing myself by forcing myself to stay as addicted to listening to new music as I have been since we started SYFFAL.

Sure, I might not have as much to say about as many things, but I need this shit. I need to be force fed as much new music as humanly possible. Thankfully every week my friends and I attempt to do that as...

STOP SLEEPING: K-Maxx, Holy Ghost, Pallbearer, Chance the Rapper, fiN, Stay Tuned, James Supercave, Yassou Benedict

Lately I have been stuck on the term "rabbit hole" I am not sure why or when it entered into my lexicon but I find myself using it non-stop. I sound like an asshole who took too many hits of acid in my prime and became obsessed with alternate reality. Both of which could not be farther from the truth, I am quite happy with my current reality and my experimentation with acid lasted about 1.5 times. I realized I wasn't cut out for the wonder drug when I spiraled into a paranoid rage because my house guests asked me to get them a glass of lemonade or some shit.

HOW fucking DARE THEY!

Most times when I use rabbit hole, it is a place holder while my oft sleep deprived brain tries to find the correct term,...

STOP SLEEPING: Gregory and The Hawk, Shad, Circle Takes the Square, Rachel And The Kings, Rare Books, Beacon, Bibio, Heliocentrics

It happens in threes; at least that is what they say. Celebrities, once one drops you can be certain that in the coming days two more are going down. It probably has something to do with those deals they all sign with the devil. If I learned anything from the Ralph Macchio movie Crossroads, it is that when the bill comes due the devil is coming to collect.

In the past week or so we lost three musicians that had a huge impact in there time, and if you aren't one of those assholes that thinks their experience with music is the only one that matters you can see how, though wildly different, they were all important in the growth of modern music and music fandom.

Chrissy Amphlett of the Divinyls passed away 2 weeks ago from Cancer and MS. Her sultry power pop might be single...
