"All the Wrong Questions" with Rapper, Slug Christ

I don't give a fuck about anything!

(Editor’s Note: Guest contributor Michael Collins, affectionately known to the scumbags around these parts of the internet as MJC, quality musician and studio technician in his own right, is the proprietor and low-brow, man-sausage behind Filthybroke Records. He contacted me in a manic childish frenzy about his newly-hatched interview series called, “All The Wrong Questions” and his first “get”: rapper Slug Christ. Sit back, twist open a bottle of your finest malt liquor, Nair your nipples, and enjoy!)

Myself and Nik of Oliver Booking Agency were kickin' it one day and simultaneously needed to “SHARE THIS CRAZY SHIT" w/ each other.  It was ole Slugga.  Concurrently.  That was odd, as we both hate so much shit.  But Slug Christ, rapper, producer of his own beats (that coincidentally are way better than yours), with a catalog like a porn dick, and a philosophy of goat horns and soiled adult diapers, just did something for us. At any rate, initial novelty nearly immediately made its way to complete immersion like on repeat for over a month trying to figure out the math of this completely homogeneous philosophy that consistently fires off in nearly all Slug Christ psalms.

Guest Contributor MJC’s Interview with Awful Records artist Slug Christ STARTS NOW!

MJC: Thank you, man.  For real, know how busy you are and much props on shit continuing to pop off.  Awful Records documentary got shot?  Mad eclectic crew, y'all.  How did you get involved w/ Father and Awful?  If this is a boring question, say so and I'll move on.

Slug Christ: I met Awful just by way of being around each other in the music scene. Keith Charles came through to get some weed from one of my band mates and we showed each other our beats. I went to one of his shows and met Ethereal there. Sorta just slowly met everyone after that.

MJC: You have your own “philosophy" of sorts, complex or simple (I'm still on the fence), but nonetheless consistent and deep that weaves through much of your music.  Like, “we are god" & “god taught me to fuck."  In short, what are you all about?  What is the breakdown of your philosophy and your outlook on life?

SC: Everything is a figment of my imagination. Yours too. And everyone else’s. Our collective unconscious agrees on what we experience. You can go with the flow or you can manifest things into reality. Look up the uncertainty principle. Sub-atomic particles behave differently when being observed. We physically affect the world around us through thought. Nothing is good, nothing is evil. It’s just a bunch of shit happening.

MJC: Your back catalog goes deep.  Like, 15 years worth of myriad projects just on Bandcamp alone.  From ethereal surf-punk to grindcore. (I hate genres, yet you should know that Slug Christ's music goes wayyyy back!).  You have a song called, "...And I Used To Be Straight-Edge,” on that dope-ass older EP before Slug Christ.  You currently rap about drugs a lot.  It sounds a lot fun, then you straight up call out for help in your music.  What is your relationship with drugs?  How do drugs play into your artistic output as Slug Christ?

SC: Yeah I've made a bunch of type of music and art. Early high school I was really into the hardcore scene so that came with a lot of shit i don't necessarily adhere to now. My relationship with drugs is like any other addict's relationship: Love/Hate.

MJC: We all likely know about the very recent passing of your mom.  True condolences.  What are your feelings on death?  Were you guys still extremely close?  If so, do you feel she may be in a better place?  And finally, what were her feelings and thoughts on the evolution of Slug Christ?  The lifestyle and the artist?

SC: I loved my mom more than any other person on Earth. I still do. She taught me how to love unconditionally and to be there for others even when I'm going through shit. I'm not too sure about death. I've heard about a surge of DMT through the brain providing an infinitely long trip of afterlife proportions. I've also heard other things. She had a pretty rough battle with cancer, so I think death might have provided some sort of relief. I remember her saying she was tired of fighting. So yeah. I think she’s in a better place.

MJC: Lastly, you clearly give no fucks about the presidency. Nor do I. I wish more people thought that way.  Curious how you came to that place yourself?  What's Amerikkka gonna look like in 10 years, in your opinion?

SC: I dunno. I don't give a fuck about anything, especially old white men trying to line their pockets with paper and power. In the next 10 years I hope the US dollar collapses along with everything it stands for. That will either happen or we'll have militarized police killing anyone in opposition.

There you have it...  Thanks to Slug Christ.
