Ever swim naked in a lake on a hot summer night? It is exhilarating ain’t it?

Parts of your body that never tingled before tingle, you soul comes alive and it feels as though some primal scream might rip it right out of your chest so you can French kiss it right there on the spot. The Cowboy’s Prayer by Mutual Benefit feels a lot like one of these baptismal late night swims. It envelops you with a warmth and slick joy that is as sensual as it is relaxing.

Thirty seconds into Auburn Epitaphs I was sitting in front of my computer, semi-clothed and semi-erect flashing back to a particularly enlightening acid trip from my college years in upstate New York. It felt very much like that perfect spring day on that country road speeding by farms strewn with fields of dried wheat, the top down, and the warm sun sitting on my shoulder telling me about the time he bedded down two Norwegian chicks. It was magically comforting.

Throughout the entirety of The Cowboy’s Prayer it feels like you are sitting just outside this dimension and falling head over heals in love with the most righteous college poetry major named Marjorie. She looks the way fresh cut grass smells and her toe ring game is fucking stellar. Unfortunately she is just out of reach due to that pesky dimensional rift. None the less, you build up an entire relationship in your head. Bittersweet as it is, it is still one of the defining moments in your life.

Am I divulging too much about myself? Well fuck you because here comes the mother load.

NEVER IN MY FUCKING LIFE HAVE I WANTED TO BE A TEENAGE ASIAN GIRL THAN AT THE END OF BACKWARDS FIREWORKS!!!!!

HOLY SHIT! That song slipped something in my drink and suddenly everything I touched felt like I was balls deep in a Pier One Imports throw pillow.

Mutual Benefit makes beautiful music. The kind of music that can wrap you up in its arms and make soap opera love to you inner star child.

I think I just squirted.
