Communist Daughter

Roll A Stone

Tom Doz | September 21, 2016

I shit you not. The pull quotes in Communist Daughter's press release referenced everyone of these bands: Arcade Fire, Of Monsters and Men, The Civil Wars, Fleet Foxes, and Bon Iver.

...with grunge stylings.

Normally this why I hate press releases. I mean, I get that they want to compare the music to more popular artists so you know what expect. I do it all the time. But the artists above are all over the board, thus not giving me any idea to how they could possibly sound.

And now that I've stuck my foot in my mouf, all those pull quotes are kind of right. 'Roll A Stone' sounds like all that shit and at the same time. I don't really get it. I could even fuck with you a little more add Death Cab and Juno in there.

Now more pressing, as a new fan I don't know how I should style myself if I got to one of their shows. Long unwashed hair with a groomed 'Lyft' mustache and in an oversized flannel? I want to conform to Communist Daughter but I don't know how!

But let's no concentrate on other bands or image. Let's obsess over Communist Daughter and watch this happy video with vintage motor cycles that doesn't match the mood of this ballz haunting song.

Yet, I love it.

Stop confusing me Communist Daughter, a co-ed band from communist free Minnesota. Who the fuck do you think you are?

Their new album The Cracks That Built The Wall will be out October 21st. Look for it.
