BELLS

WANDERER

Joel Frieders | August 3, 2016

Post rock has always been about energy for me.

My favorite post rock bands might not always have the greatest chops, or have the most amazing guitar solos, or the most massive drums, but what they might lack in technical skill they more than fucking make up in the grandeur of energy transformed into fucking noise.

Bells have been one of my favorite acts since I discovered them a few years ago, and while I consider their skills to be pretty fucking amazing, it's their energy that gives me the lord's boner. I'm telling you, these assholes make me wield a boner of a thousand adolescents.

The video for "Wanderer" is simply gorgeous, with mountain scapes and gorgeous forests and abandoned locales in random wooded areas, but until the vocals come in around 2:38, I'm not totally convinced it's as fucking awesome as I want it to be. But those screamed and chanted crowd vocals fucking get me. RIGHT IN THE CHESTICLES.

If Bells were ever in the market for a fanboy who would do nothing but promise to cry while they performed such amazingly energetic and beautiful music, I'd probs apply.

Beauty.
