1) Somebody That I Used to Know (Miami Nights 1984 remix) - Gotye: It is time for me to retire Gotye and his one hit wonder…but not before I rock one more remix. I’ve welcomed the remixes because I always felt the track was short on something. Miami nights realized this too and peppered the track with tons of 80’s Eddie Murphy handclaps

Work – The 2 Bears: The 2 Bears are a Hot Chip off shoot side project that crank the gaydar a little higher than Hot Chip normally does. That’s a mouthful. Er, what I mean is that is saying a lot for the already slightly flamboyant Hot Chippers. Flamboyance be damned I love the Fuck out of this work. I dare you not to bounce your head during the piano riff

3) D.I.S.C.O. – The Young Professionals: I loved this duo’s cover of Lana Del Rey so I felt inclined to check out more from them. Covers are gateway drugs to new artists. ..And Fuck if I’m not high as shit off of The Young Professionals brand of disco smack. This jam is like The Village People fucking Devo. I love it. Hard. Kids, say no to drugs and yes to The Young Professionals.

4) How Will I Know (Whitney Houston vs Robyn) – Zooash: RIP. Far too many people have made cruel jokes at her demise. We at SYFFAL don’t condone such behavior. If you’d like me to expand on our stance I’ll instead simply point you in the direction of Brent’s latest piece: Fuck You, Let Whitney Rest In Peace. Amen.

5) Dirty Talk (Wax Motif Remix) – Oliver: Oliver has provided me with so many grand remixes; most notably the remix of Penguin Prison’s Fair Warning, that I decided it was time to focus on an Oliver track. Remixed naturally. Let its dancefloor poundings drive you to move and shake your ass in your office as you stave off the work doom and gloom and have your own personal dance party.

6) Roadgame – Kavinsky: As someone who had been rocking Kavinsky for quite a few years before Nightcall landed the prime Drive soundtrack spot I could not be more happy for his new found fringe mainstream success. More fans means more Kavinsky. That can only be a good thing. This track is a sample of what to expect from his upcoming 2012 LP. Can't Wait.

7) Coming Home (Miadis Remix) – 2 Hearts and Chemicals: Three track marks in a row. I’m pretty sure that’s a record for an artist not named RAC or The Hood Internet. If they keep sending me tracks like this they’ll be well on their way to an epic streak the likes of which haven't been seen since the days of Joltin' Joe DiMaggio. 56 track marks? That might be asking for too much.

8) Move Up (Wiz Khalifa vs Phantogram) – The Hood Internet: I mentioned the Hood internet above so I felt like we were due for another one of their crafty combos. It’s been awhile since I’ve rocked a Hood Internet song so I had a handful to choose from. Apologies to TLC but when in doubt you have to go with Phantogram. Their beats are tailor made for Hood Internet mash ups.

9) We Can Dance (Goldroom Remix) – Lancelot:: Lancelot's debut LP drops on March 5th or Feb 21st depending on where you look. I became midly obsessed with finding out the firlm date after hearing this killer mix. I've set an iphone remider for both dates because i'm thorough like that. I love the hell out of this swinging Goldroom remix.

10) Night Heat – Selebrities: Selebrities channel “Axel F” on the opening of this track. For those keeping score that’s two Eddie Murphy references thus far. I like to keep my shit mad relevant, son. References aside this is a killer track from a band whose 2011 release “Delusions” I flagged as “the most underrated and overlooked album of 2011. Go back and check them out won’t you?

11) By Surprise - Gemini Club: You know what I hate? When someone sends ma a link for a song and smugly says “I think you would want to spew semen over their faces”. Graphic I know, but you have to understand in the SYFFAL world that is the highest form of flattery. After hearing this song it is all I want to do. Good call on your part Tom D. The track is taken off Gemini Club’s upcoming EP, "Here We Sit", due out on 04/17

12) One Second of Love – Nite Jewel:. This song by LA’s Nite jewel is right up my alley. I’m a sucker for synth driven pop jams. So much so I feel like I need to catch her set at The Troubadour on Coachella Eve Eve. If you have to ask which week you are dead to me. Whose not dead to me: Nite Jewel and her damn hooky chorus.

13) The Reflection of You – Bear in Heaven: Speaking of LA shows Bear in Heaven will be playing The Echo on April 5th in support of their newest record, “I Love You, It’s Cool” (out 4/03). I think it fine time you get on board with their winning sound. My guess is you won’t be able to catch them at such small venues for much longer. Do it. Dance with them now!

14) Electric Chair – Bleached: While I’m rattling off shows acting like the IconcertCal you never downloaded or asked for allow me to announce another show: Bleached @ The Bootleg w/ Veronica Falls. I’ll be there singing along to Electric Chair. Feel free to say hi. However be aware when the whistle solo comes up I’ll make a B line for the smoking area to hide the fact that I don’t know how to whistle.

15) Shiny Things (Yeasayer Remix) – Fanfarlo: I think it is about time Yeasayer put some work in. We’re going on over two years of no new material. A remix of Fanfarlo will have to do until they decide to lay down some new tracks. Even their official site is lazy. Check it out. I mean come on. That's beyond lazy.

16) Chi-Town – The Cribs: The Crib’s 2009 “Ignore the Ignorant” was easily one of my favorite albums. They followed that up w/ the awesome addition of Johnny Marr for their next album. He’s gone now but he’s definitely left his mark. I count “in the Belly of the Brazen Bull (out 05/07) as one of my most anticipated spring releases. Chi –Town’s buzzsaw sound will have to hold me over till then

17) We Are Young –Fun: I heard this song for the first time during a Superbowl ad. I tried soundhounding it but it couldn’t pick up the audio over the sound of the drunk and unruly types I have chosen to surround myself with. I peppered the crowd with questions like “Is this a Styx cover or is it Styx?” Turns out it was neither. Who knew? There album comes out on 2/21. Let’s see if they have a track named “Mr Roboto” on there.

18) This Charming Video Game (Lana Del Rey vs. The Smiths) - The Reborn Identity: It’s time to take Lana Del Rey out to pasture. I can’t conceivably go to the well with any more versions of Blue Jeans or Videogames so I have to do the humane thing and put her down. I’m no monster so I’m doing it gently with a mashup with The Smiths. So long LDR. Thanks for the 15 minutes and the herpes.

19) Landslide (Virgin Magnetic Material remix) – Fleetwood Mac: Where do you go for fresh smooth remixes of stale old popular songs? Tel Aviv is where. Duh. Virgin Magnetic Material from Isreal has delightfully nuanced remixes of popular songs like “I Ran”, “Once In a Lifetime”, and “Love Will Tear Us Apart”. I suggest you bookmark their soundcloud.

20) Into The Black (Neil Young cover) – Chromatics: This track marks is light on the cover scene but I feel like the one I selected can more than make up for the lack of covers. Quality over quantity. The Chromatics are another Drive Soundtrack act who are poised to build off of the albums popularity. I can’t find a release date for the album but I know they are having a record release party on 02/26 In Eagle Rock, so it has to be close.
