Snowmine, Laminate Pet Animal, Indie, Psych, Pop

At times I need to be scolded for my AD/HD music listening habits; or at least politely prodded.

I came across Snowmine this past summer and downloaded their debut album Laminate Pet Animal, but I couldn’t get past the first track because it was so awesome. I listened to Beast in Air, Beast in Water on repeat for a week, added it to my Turntable.fm queue and neglected the rest of the album.

SHAME ON ME!

Snowmine create a sound that I compare to a less sweater vesty version of Vampire Weekend meets The Morning Benders. Tribalesque beats with delayed and echoed guitar tones.

I have since listened to the ENTIRE album and it is fair to say that the other 8 songs on Laminite Pet Animal are not the red headed step children. Most of what I love on that first track makes its way on to the rest of the album: beautiful strings and subtle African flavor.

The song writing is superb. I have much respect for any band who can give my pubes goose bumps and Snowmine is able to do this frequently. The strings always seem to kick in at the most perfect and uplifting parts throughout the album. Let Me In not only gets the pubes prickly, but also the ball hairs. Listen to this song at a high volume and you’ll grow a porcupine in your underwears. NO EXAGERATION! I CAN NOW USE MY BOXERS AS A STRAINER!

The production of Laminate Pet Animal creates a musical ying and yang; everything is in symmetry. I don’t normally pick out the bass as an instrument that stands out, but it has that perfect low end to balance out the airy guitar picking. At times, I want to roll around with those low bass lines on the floor and dry hump the shit out of them.

Snowmine recently released another single called Curfews via bandcamp. It is equally as awesome and equally as hair raising. Due to their ongoing dedication of making great music we can stream to for free, Snowmine has officially clinched the prestigious Syffal award for Bandcamp Artist of the Week. Your trophy of my bronzed goose pimpled ball sack is in the mail. Feel free to attach it to the rear end of your pick up truck.

Go get these prickly prick's album and 'name you price' for their latest single. I recommend paying them one MILLLLLION dollars.
