We love the adorable Rey Rey Villalobos. I mean, who cares about his music, it's just fun to say his last name like Sofia Vergara would: Viiiiiiiialobos. Rey Rey is the man behind the band House of Wolves and his album Fold In The Wind has been one of my favorites to listen to this past year. This is why I was stoked when he brought his cover of Modern Love to our attention.
To be fair, I don't think that Rey Rey recorded this awesomely mellow cover of Modern Love specifically for PCC. Usually a movie or television show inspires the recording; I'm pretty sure that Rey Rey just likes the song.
So let's pretend.
Modern Love appears in the movies Couple Retreat and Adventureland. Hmmmm. I don't take take Rey Rey for a fan of romantic comedies or zombie flicks. What about television? Modern Love was featured as the opening theme on WWF All-Star Wrestling from 1984-1986 according to wikipedia. I think we got a winner. I could totes imagine Rey Rey as the small but speedy wrestler named The Mexitalian Stallion and his war cry would be 'HOOOO-AH' (because Joel think Rey looks like a young Al Pacino).
I recored this song a few years ago simply because I ♥ David Bowie. I was going to release it solo, just me and the acoustic guitar, but wanted to add another musical element, so i asked my friend Steffaloo to sing on it with me.
