As I've mentioned in the past, Mark Fain of Gun Lake is a sensitive bastard and he like to make me cry. His soothing voice and melancholy guitar makes me weep like Joel when he looks at himself naked in the mirror. Mark does not fail to make my tears flow with his cover of the Family Matters theme song. I've never noticed the beautiful melody in this song until it was stripped down. This is definitely one of my favorite PCC submissions to date.
Be sure to check out out Gun Lake. Currently, the band is working on a new release and wrapping up a kickstarter campaign. Peep the video. There is only 3 days left to donate. Mark told me that if you contribute $10k he'd do dirty, dirty things. I can't tell you the exact details, but know that it involves scented candles, your chest, and poop.
When I was asked to do a pop culture cover, I chose the Family Matters theme because the only reason I am a good person is that I know Bruce Lee Urkel will find me should I waver from the path of righteousness. Incidentally, Ike of The Coasts blew my mind with the information that Family Matters is a spin-off of Perfect Strangers (For proof, go to 1:45 of this video).
