I have a little story I want to share before discussing the amazing new song by F. Virtue featuring myself and Juan Deuce with production from J57 of Brown Bag All Stars. A few years back, when I was a full time musician I was on the Van's Warped Tour. We would play night gigs in most of the cities to supliment our income and save our real fans from having to pay Warped Tour prices to see a half hour set.  We hit Vancouver with a vengence, the first night we arrived we had a show at a hole in the wall dive bar with our friends The Chicharones.

At the show I meet this kid who was all of 16, he was super sincere and totally into underground hip hop, but in a really cool and pure way, not an annoying fanboy dick kind of way. he loved the art of it, told us about dedicated himself to making his own music and doing shows, basically being a bad ass kid making rap music. On top of that his dad drove him from Calgary to Vancouver to see the show and totally supports his dreams and loves that he is creative and aspiring to be an artist. The kid and I ended up talking for about 45 minutes on a variety of topics - hip hop, the life of an artist, just cool shit. It was one of those rewarding moments that you get from time to time as an artist that makes the proletarian lifestyle worth while.

I ran into him again a year later and he told me about what he had been working on and we spoke a little more, but nothing major. Weirdly every now and again I would wonder what that little fucker was up to.

Smash cut to the other night when I recording my verse on Straphangers for F. Virtue's new EP Chinook (which drops Monday August 13th).  I had never met F. Virtue before, but we had communicated often because he is an occassional contributor for SYFFAL (Will Kowall), as we are getting to know each other he tells me about how much he loved the old Atoms stuff (my old hip hop crew from the late 90s). I was like thanks..blah blah blah. then he tells me about the time he came out to catch a show in Vancouver featuring Hangar 18 (my old group) and The Chicharones when he was a kid. I was like oh shit. thats dope and kind of paid it no mind. I had a great time recording the song with Will and we discussed working on some more music down the line before I left.

The night goes on, I jogged home, get ready for bed, lay down, and it hits me....HOLY shit WILL WAS THAT KID!!!!!!!!

So I email him first thing the next morning and it turns out that indeed he was. fucking crazy.

It was one of the more rewarding moments in my life.

Anyway. I hope you enjoy this track, I am really proud of it, and be sure to check out Chinook on Monday August 13th when it drops.

Good fucking job Will.
