Drive Me Home, Booty Call, Bill Cosby

Last weekend was, as those of you with Twitter know, the MTV Video Music Awards. Ever changing with the times, this year's felt the impact of social media more than ever. Not only did viewers have the chance to #LOL right along via their home computer and cellular telephone, but for the first time the nominees were stacked with many clips that went viral before they even aired on the network. Of course the biggest of these winners was Tyler, the Creator, an artist that this very site was the first to break from an interview last year. While it is great that, if this is any indication, YouTube truly has become a level playing field for the art of the music video, it also means that some great viral music videos have now been snubbed several years in a row. Of course I'm talking about Drive Me Home's Booty Call.

Legally clearing this video would be a logistical nightmare for countless reasons. From the footage itself, to permission for Bill Cosby's likeness, I doubt there's any amount of Jello Pudding or Kodak Film to make that happen. However, thanks to YouTube, this brilliant little bit of editing to a funky groove can reach the masses. I don't want to write too much about it and give every little surprise the video has away, but it is worth noting that as great as education and communication is, clips like this are what truly make the internet a never-ending wonderful place.
