PCC has been thrusting into the loins and minds of the clergy and laypeople everywhere. Most notably, the inner workings of the Italian pesto mafia. Cultfever, fresh off the release of the deliciously self titled album Cultfever, has submitted something we weren't really expecting. Much like a pinky tucked into an anus during fellatio, Señor Don Gato isn't unwelcome, we just weren't aware the shit was kosher, na mean? Cultfever continue in the theme of Pop Cultures Collide with a song from their uncontrollably black and white and creepy and weepy childhoods, Señor Don Gato. We're pretty sure the schoolteachers that forced their students to sing this at such a wee age were all wearing thigh highs and worshiping satan in the break room.
"Señor Don Gato" is a children's song about a domestic cat who is sitting on a roof when he discovers that his true love has agreed to marry him. We won't spoil the rest of the plot-line of this narrative-driven song, however, in the way of background, we had a dispute as to whether or not this was actually a “popular” children's song. Tamara insisted that 'Don Gato' along with other hits like, 'Dweller of the Cave,' are staples of a soaring k-8 public school music curriculum. Joseph disagree(s)d. It happened that we found common ground when we started working with an audio engineer, Daniel Ricci, on the mix of our album and, out of great respect and esteem, we assigned him the nickname “gato.” Consequently, he was subjected to listening to this song a modest handful of times.
We are grateful to SYFFAL for giving us the opportunity, in the true spirit of the song, to resurrect 'Don Gato' in our adult lives.
