Gashcat

Gashcat, and this month's submission for Pop Cultures Collide, As the World Falls Down, represents everything we set out to accomplish with the original idea of pop cultures collide. Taking the Aqua Net sheen of David Bowie's classic song from the soundtrack of the nightmares and wet dreams of our youth in the movie Labyrinth, and pairing them with the barefoot wonder of Gashcat: this song is absolutely perfect.

Perfect for PCC. Perfect to swallow up that last bit of summer before the frost starts inching its way up your inseam to force-hibernate your fucking balls up near your throat.

And now a word from gashcat

Labyrinth is one of those dark, shimmery shards of my childhood memory. I remember, after seeing it for the first time, I begged my grandfather to bring me across the river to the Natchez Kmart. There, I sifted through all of those popular soundtrack CDs of the time... Braveheart, Mortal Kombat, Pocahontas, countless others... Anyway, there was no Labyrinth. I proceeded to the "Rock and Roll" section and bought what would be my first CD ever. It was The Best of David Bowie 1969-1974, the one with a hands-crossed, glowing Ziggy Stardust on the front. I immediately fell in love with Life on Mars, Space Oddity, Starman, Sorrow, and The Man Who Sold The World... All of which became the background music for my Star Wars figurines shooting lasers on grandmother's porch while Ziggy jammed good with the Spiders from Mars. I suppose I chose this song because if it weren't for David Bowie and his goblin codpiece, I would have never made that trip to Kmart for the first dose of what my Catholic aunt called "The Devil's Music".
