One Song

Boom Forest

Silver Hair

Joel Frieders | October 9, 2015

IMPORTANT NOTE: Somehow the embed code we used says the track is "private", yet it's public (SEE, CLICK HERE), but I found a live performance of this song, and it's at the bottom of the page. SO SCROLL BRO SCROLL!

The first time I heard Boom Forest was on a tour video from PHOX or something. I wasn't really paying attention to what was on the video because I was stuck holding my chest with both my hands over my heart while my head was slumped on top of my desk. It was fucking excruciatingly beautiful. I immediately emailed PHOX and said "WHO IS SINGING THAT SONG AT (insert time stamp on video) THAT HAS ME WEEPY AS FUCK?". They wrote back and said only "Boom Forest". I spent the next three hours listening to his bandcamp page and telling myself I was never going to write a fucking thing about this guy because it was too personal.

Dude hit me in the vas defrens or some shit because I couldn't even describe the goosebumps I was covered in, I couldn't find the right words to properly fellate and genuflect and venerate and praise this motherfucker. So I locked the Boom in my fucking heart and I moved on.

If you've ever had a musician connect with you so suddenly that you're willing to bet the farm (seriously, all these Wisconsin shits have farms, it's like people from Illinois and drinking problems) on their being in existence with the only intention being to make you fucking weepy, you've come close to what Boom Forest meant to me during that first introduction.

Now when someone emails you from a PR company and they say "the unknown Boom Forest" and you say "NUH UH!" outloud and wag your finger at your computer screen because, well, BOTH of my testicles know and love Senor Boom to piecesticles.

BUT WHY IS SOMEONE EMAILING ABOUT LE BOOM? WAIT. THAT MUST MEAN THERE'S A NEW BOOM FOREST ALBUM COMING?!?!

"Silver Hair" is just as epically fucking beautiful as I remember my memories of Boom Forest to be, and if this one song is any indication of what his album is going to sound like, I SHALL BEGIN SWOONING POST HASTE. The delicate approach to singing about someone you love is a skill you aren't just born with, you have to work at it, massage it, message it and tag it on Facebook, but most importantly, you have to believe in the words coming out of your fucking heart. "Silver Hair" is perfect on its own, but knowing who it's coming from makes it all the more fucking importantly titties.

I can't wait for everyone to love this fucking asshole as much as I love this fucking asshole.
