Are the Grammys getting you down?

What was it that the great George W. Bush said?

“There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.”

Well, you get the idea: Shame on yourself.

Do you get upset at the Grammys every year? Do you complain that they're not relevant? Do you get butt sores if your favorite artist does not win the award?

If the answer is 'yes'. Then SHUT THE FUCK UP AND DON'T WATCH THE SHOW.

You know why? Because the Grammys are never going to appease you. They will keep letting you down. They will keep nominating popular artists over equally deserving and lesser known artists. They will keep awarding 'best new artist' to artists who have already been around and relevant for 5 years prior. They will keep fucking it up again and again and again.

You know why? Because the majority of the viewers don't really care about music. At least not in the way that you or I do. They want to be entertained. They don't want to see performances from artists they don't know sing songs they've never heard. They want a fucking Beatles cover performed by Fergi, Jack White and Alan Jackson.

And the Industry likes it this way. I went to grammy.org to see how the final votes are tabulated. LOOK at the very first sentence:

" Final-round ballots are sent to voting members in good dues standing."

Does that pretty much say it all? You have to pay dues and be a member of the Recording Academy to have a vote.

AND who has $100/year to waste on being members of The Recording Academy? The people who benefit from the publicity the Grammys brings to them.

And who is the Recording Academy? Pretty much the recording companies, management and artists. It's basically a small group of people jacking off to each other in a grand auditorium televised to the masses.

Am I sick of answering my own questions? Not yet.

Are the winners (or even the nominees) they choose the best? No. It's their opinion. Everybody has an opinion.

Do you get upset if I like mint ice cream more than strawberry? I hope not, that's silly.

Then why are you getting upset if somebody likes Adelle more than Beyonce? I'm still trying to figure that out.
