Analog Dive

Smile At The Trigger

Brandon Backhaus | August 29, 2014

I like good people. With citizens being blasted with gas and bullets and batons and journalists being beheaded and ransomed and a government seemingly operating on a second grade level with their ability to do anything about any of it, shit seems pretty fucked. It's easy to get discouraged...

But then I look around this big, bad city that I call home: full to the brim with vacuous wastoids and dick-riders, trend-fuckers, and deplorable moral characters. But in the words of Murs: There are still decent people making music! One of those good, if not great, people is the homie Blake aka Analog Dive.

All adorable island-conceived vibes, Analog Dive might not be from LA originally, but the city is better off for his positive sentiments and quick smile. His new EP, Has No Friends is full of collabs and is a testament to his role as the rubber cement keeping the good guys together.

"Smile At the Trigger Man" features Swells and the impressive contribution of Gadzooks, and makes me want to take off my pants and empty my fridge of soda and go all sarong and coconut water. If you can't twist one and enjoy this song we literally can not be friends. Other collabs include our other favorite nice guy rapper, Kid Presentable, Pasadena's hardest working cultural ambassador FreeWill, the homies and SYFFAL vets K-Serious and Besatree, coconspirators Destruct and Anthm, and Apostrophe.

My only gripe with Blake is that he didn't hit me up for a 16! With that small indiscretion easily overlooked, I highly recommend Analog Dive and his whole RSI crew of musicians, rappers, dancers, graphic artists, t-shirted fashionistas, and all around positive peoples. They throw great parties. One time they even had a Hawaiian buffet at the bar!!! SPAM AND MACARONI SALAD THOUGH BRUHZ!!! (You can have that poi though, dude. That shit is spawned from the circulatory system of antagonistic alien beings and should not be ingested by humankind.)

Give, Has No Friends, a spin and then follow Analog Dive and let him know he's a dirty liar! Because this is one of those instances where my fandom is only transcended by friendship! Analog Dive is good people. Maybe that should be the name of his next EP.

Love,
Brando
