You know the saying about eating your words? Fully eating large bowls of "Oh shit, what was I thinking?!" O's right now, after listening to this new Sadistik album. I knew he was a handsome specimen of Pacific North West male flannel modeling from jump, but I took long, blind naps to the raps dudes.

There are artists who try real hard to tap into something dark, and heavy, and sound like they're trying, and then there are guys like Sadistik who don't have to try, it's natural because there are demons being shat out and it's scary yo. Ultraviolet is that record you listen to and get chills heavy when stuff like "Orange" with Child Actor, or "Chemical Burns" (with the late Eyedea) comes on because it's haunting, dark and very real.

I want to give Sadistik bear hugs shirtless for how raw this album turned out. It captures the mindset of struggling with addiction, depression and regret so well, without being all preachy, and sounding like a 1980s D.A.R.E commercial.

Don't get me wrong guys, honesty and rainy emo PNW raps are awesome, and my favsies, but Sadistik is also a great lyricist, and proceeds to rap his balls off on "Nowhere", or, along side fucking Sticky Fingaz & Tech9! Don't believe me?! Listen to "Death Warrant", then address your apology letters to my hairy Puerto Rican ass, because I told you so!

Honestly though, I was really taken back by the writing, production and depth delivered on this record. I'm going to go back and do my Sadistik homework while flogging myself for sleeping so hard. I'll never ever do that again, swears... scouts honor.
