I've been playing guitar for about twenty four years. That doesn't mean I'm good or even worth listening to or anything. But I know what I consider inspiring and I know what to ignore so as to become uninspired. I can hear it, I can see it, I can feel it, I can normally tell within the first few seconds of someone playing if I'm going to mentally stick around or take the Fuck off. It's annoying actually, when I want to give someone who means well the obvious benefit of me never having heard them but I can't, because I want to fucking break their guitar over their fucking self righteous "I'm an artist and don't eat meat" fucking face.
No diss to my veterinarianz and vegan friendz.
Gold Lion sent in their latest EP titled Lucky You, One More For Me and it's the exact opposite of what I unintentionally fucking despise. Gold Lion isn't daintily approaching this shit with a "if I take my time it'll seem like it's important" type fucking steeze, they're just innocently playing to themselves and as someone who was fortunate enough to overhear it, it's fucking gorgeous. Completely unassuming, patient, introspective, raw and complex, I couldn't imagine Gold Lion plugged in any louder as they appear on LY,OMFM.
Sure, I'm a pussy for a female vocal that disarms me. Yes, I appreciate acoustic percussion recorded the way it was intended. Of course, I could swallow the honesty only a band that records in the moment could deliver. Gold Lion pump out a beautifully simple look inside the workings of a team of instrumentation that's as organic as the soil they've been composting themselves since learning how to swing a scythe.
Gold Lion has that wooden quality that brings together the unique grain of the cut, the air in the flute, the hand upon the supple ass of the hand drum, the horse haired bow of the strings, and my erection.
Yes, just when you thought I was going to be all artistic I mentioned my motherfucking dick ya'll.
shit'S DOPE. BUY IT. THANK MY DICK.
