There's this dude Alex that I know, he's one of the few people I used to see around Chicago shows (before I retired to full time daddy) that is completely un-annoyning. Likeable, mellow, hyper-when-needed, funny, gives one hell of a neck massage... Well, this muthafucker used to hang around everywhere and at every show featuring a producer or artist that has any semblance of talent. I used to think he was just a scenester, with his tight jeans, oversized tshirts and diamond crusted Mariners hat, but it turns out that he was sponging shit up.

Dude has somehow absorbed all of the qualities and techniques of producers like Maker and the OPUS that make instrumental music such a fucking challenge to make tasteful. Dude managed to actually be one of my favorite producers without even telling me he produced, instead at a show a year or so ago he just says "Hey this is Onry, he raps."

To which I respond, "Onry, you don't look like a hugger, but can I get a hug?"

To which Onry responds with a grunt and a hug I can only compare to the hug of an inmate fresh out of jail. It was a passionate embrace.

So an hour or so later these two bastards get on stage, Onry Ozzbourne from Grayskul and little fucking Alex Zavala.

I remember leaving the show completely confused.

Does this dude Zavala actually expect me to believe he made those beats? How much did he pay one of my favorite rappers to get on stage with him?

Then almost six months later this group of the two a dem, Dark Time Sunshine releases FIRST a free ep called believeyoume, THEN they release quite possibly my favorite hip hop album of 2010 in Vessel.

I almost don't even want to fucking review this album it's so fucking aesthetically perfect. This is far better than anything I could've expected from lil' ol Zavala, in fact, I'm pretty sure Maker hates him for being so fucking awesome his first go-round. The drums are so well manicured it's like Zavala made this a year ago, sat on it and then remade it and played them side by side just to make sure he did everything the way his gut would tell him.

The greatest beat of 2010 is the beat for "Run": I dare you not to fucking nod your head you cheesecooze.

Listen to this, then shave your back, then collect the shavings and make em say DTS, then take a picture, then send it to me.

Then go buy this fucking record.
